Dhaka, Sept 20 (BDNEWS) – Mohammedan Sporting Club of Rangamati set up their zonal final clash with their namesake of Chittagong Thursday after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Bangladesh Navy at the Rangamati Stadium Tuesday.
Shamim scored twice and Idris netted one for the Mohammedans. Touhid and Qumruzzaman scored one each for Navy.
Four other teams -– Abahani Krira Chakra of Borguna, Biplob Sangha of Gazipur, Kararchar KC of Narsingdi and Shammya Krira and Sangskritik Gosti of Thakurgaon -- confirmed their zonal semifinal berths beating their respective rivals at different venues.
All four teams will play the semifinals against the rivals on Thursday at different venues.
But, the day's inclement weather did not allow holding the match between Kushtia Crescent Club and Jhenaidha Mohammedan SC at the Faridpur Stadium. Now, the match will be held Wednesday morning.
At the Khulna Stadium, Abahani KC registered a solitary goal victory over Balaka SC of Narail to set up their semi-final fight against Barisal Mohammedan SC. Moniruzzaman scored the match-winner in the 35th minute.
Biplob Sangha will play their semi-final match against Probaha Sangsad of Noagoan as they outplayed Sun Shine Club of Bogra by 2-1 goals at Jamalpur Stadium Thuesday. Alauddin and Amaduddin scored one each for the winners while Mozibur Rahman netted the consolation goal for the losers.
At Feni Stadium, Kararchar KC of Narsingdi recorded an emphatic 3-1 victory over Desh Krira Chakra Chunarughat of Hobiganj to set up the semi-final clash with Bangladesh Police.
Shohag struck twice and Mahbub scored one for the winners while Wahed netted the lone goal for the losers in the day's match.
Shammya Krira and Sangskritik Gosti of Thakurgaon will play the semi-final against Bangladesh Army after registering a solitary goal win over Dinajpur Football Khelowar Kalyan Samiti at the Natore Stadium with Ataur scoring the all-important goal in 81st minute.
