Dhaka, Sept 17 (BDNEWS) – Five teams moved into the respective zonal semifinals of the Nitol-Tata 5th National Football League beating their rivals at different venues across the country Saturday.
The teams are Mohammedan Sporting Club of Chandpur, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Muslim Renaissance Club of Tangail and PK Union Club of Satkhira.
Kushtia Crescent Club booked their quarterfinal seat with a 3-1 victory over Super Eleven Club of Shariatpur in tiebreaker. The match between them ended in a 2-2 draw at the Faridpur Stadium. Shahin of Crescent and Ujjal of Super Eleven scored twice for their sides.
At the Feni Stadium, Mohammedan SC set up their semifinal clash with Soccer Club of Feni Wednesday after beating Hidden Hero Club of Comilla by a solitary goal. Tazul scored the match-winner in the 77th minute.
Formidable Bangladesh Army will play the semifinal against the winners of Dinajpur Football Khelowar Kallyan Samiti and Samya Krira and Sangskritik Gosti on Thursday as the Army outplayed Diganta Prosaree of Rajsha at the Natore Adhunik Stadium.
Didarul, Silon and Mizanur scored one each for the winners while Kamal scored the consolation goal for the losers.
At the Rangamati Stadium, Bangladesh Navy registered a solitary goal victory over Bangladesh Rifles with Moniruzzaman scoring the all important goal in the 43rd minute.
Navy will fight against Mohammedan SC of Chittagong in the semifinal Tuesday at the same venue.
Muslim Renaissance Club also recorded a lone goal win over Shaheed Mohin Smriti Sangsad of Khishorganj with Mashud Khan netting the match-winner in the 33rd minute at Jamalpur Stadium.
Muslim Renaissance will face Kacharipar SC of Jamalpur in the semifinal on Wednesday.
At the Khulna Stadium, PK Union Club set the semifinal fight against Town Club of Khulna on Wednesday after beating Mohammedan SC of Chuadanga by 5-4 in tiebreaker.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw in the regulation time and the match rolled into tiebreaker.
Mamunur Rashid scored for Satkhira in the 52nd minute while Shahidul netted for Chuadanga 79th minute.
