Bangladeshi-origin winger Farhaan Ali Wahid marked his first National League Cup appearance for Boreham Wood with a goal and an assist in a 5-2 victory over Leeds United Under-21s.

The 19-year-old, who recently joined Boreham Wood on loan from Premier League side Fulham, played a prominent role in Tuesday's Group C win at Meadow Park.

Farhaan opened the scoring for the hosts in the 41st minute, producing a fine finish from inside the penalty area.

He was involved again in first-half stoppage time, setting up Tarryn Allarakhia as Boreham Wood took control of the contest.

The performance continues an impressive spell of development for the winger, who is eligible to represent Bangladesh through his ancestry.

The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is working to bring Farhaan into the national set-up, potentially adding another overseas-based player to the country's options.

Impressing at Fulham

Farhaan scored seven goals in 17 appearances for Fulham Under-18s last season before also finding the net on his debut for the club's Under-21 side.

His progress continued after stepping up to Under-21 football, and he was named the Premier League 2 Player of the Month for November after scoring three goals in two matches.

Farhaan was subsequently included in Fulham's first-team pre-season preparations.

He made his first appearance for the senior side in a 2-0 defeat by Norwich City and also featured in a 1-1 draw against Al-Ahli and a 2-1 victory over Farense.

Those appearances appeared to move Farhaan closer to a potential competitive first-team debut for the Premier League club.

Fulham instead opted to send the winger to Boreham Wood on loan, giving him the opportunity to gain further senior experience.
