He has sold a 50 decimal land to raise the money to create a giant flag of his FIFA World Cup favourite, Germany.

The 3,500 yard long flag cost him almost Tk 150,000, Amzad Hossain, of Magura Sadar Upazila, told bdnews24.com.

Amzad, 65, is not a fan of Germany for no reason. He claimed that, in 1987, he was afflicted by an incurable disease that failed all treatment. Then a medicine from Germany gave him back his life.

Since then, Amzad has been a diehard fan of Germany.

Amzad has been going around neighbouring villages with the flag to rally fellow supporters.

Amzad said he had employed three tailors, who were paid over Tk 40,000, to sew together the over three-kilometre long flag.

However, he is not worried about extravagance. Amzad said he would spend even more if his team won the World Cup.
