JaSaD says Gulistan office attacked during delegates' meeting

The Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSaD) has alleged that BNP and Jubo Dal leaders and activists attacked its headquarters in Dhaka’s Gulistan while hundreds of party representatives were attending a meeting.

The group entered the office around 2:30pm on Saturday, according to the party.

JaSaD Office Secretary Sajjad Hossain said around 350 party representatives from across the country were attending the meeting at the time.

“Leaders and activists from across the country have joined our delegates’ meeting. BNP and Jubo Dal leaders and activists attacked the meeting,” he told bdnews24.com.

“We are trapped inside the office. Police are coming and may arrest us.”

At the scene, Dhaka South Jubo Dal leader Rabiul Islam Nayan alleged that Awami League leaders and activists were holding a secret meeting inside the office.

“Leaders and activists of the banned Awami League are holding a secret meeting here,” he was heard saying.

Sajjad denied the allegation.

“That is false. Our delegates’ meeting was under way. Why would Awami League leaders and activists come here?” he said.

“They are simply using an excuse to attack us.”
