The incident occurred in her presence at a programme of Department of Social Services at Mirpur in Habiganj on Friday evening, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Habiganj Police Raselur Rahman Rasel said.
He told bdnews24.com that the supporters of Keya and Upazila Parishad Vice-Chairman Tara Mia got involved in an altercation over a 'silly' incident during the programme.
"At one stage of the altercation, a running battle erupted between the two sides," he said.
Police later brought the situation under control resorting to baton charge and chasing the clashing groups, he said.
Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital Director Brig Gen AK Mahbubul Haque told bdnews24.com that Keya was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
"There is no mark of any wound on her body. She is conscious and out of danger. She may have become sick for attending programmes throughout the day without eating anything," the doctor said.
Keya, who is an MP from the seat reserved for women in Habiganj, alleged 'armed' followers of Tara Mia carried out a 'premeditated attack' on her supporters.
She told bdnews24.com several of her supporters were injured in the 'attack'.
Her supporters organised a protest rally after the incident.
Tara Mia told bdnews24.com that the clash started when the MP's men took away the mobile phone of a man when he was taking pictures at the programme.
"The clash began when the two sides became agitated following the altercation," he said.
