The leaders of the nine parties and the 14-Party ruling coalition had a meeting at the Awami League chief’s office at Dhanmondi in Dhaka on Wednesday.

“Nine parties, including the Trinamool BNP, want to work with us under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s leadership with an aim to establish a secular Bangladesh by defeating the evil BNP-Jamaat-e-Islami forces in the next general election,” Awami League leader and Health Minister Mohammed Nasim said after the meeting.

“They said they wanted to be with us. Sheikh Hasina will take the final decision on this issue,” said Nasim, the spokesperson for the 14-Party coalition.

The 14-Party alliance invited the leaders of the nine parties on instruction from Hasina, he added.

Huda, a former BNP leader, said they wanted to strengthen Hasina’s powers against communalism.

A minister of the BNP-Jamaat government, he also said they would work together to foil conspiracies against the people.

The other parties that attended the meeting are the Ganatantrik Andolan, National Democratic Alliance, Sammilito Islami Jote, Krishak Sramik Party, Ekamot Andolan. Jago Dal, Islamic Front and Ganatantrik Front.
