Dhaka, Nov 25 (BDNEWS) – Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum (BJAF) led by senior lawyer advocate TH Khan and Post and Telecommunications Minister Barrister Aminul Haque Friday decided to form a new committee of BJAF in January next year.
As the district level lawyers at a special meeting Friday demanded to form new committee, the central leaders of BJAF announced that a new committee of BJAF will be formed through a council of nationalist lawyers of the country in January.
The meeting was organised by BJAF with its president advocate TH Khan at the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) auditorium.
A rival faction of BJAF led by Communications Minister Barrister Nazmul Huda and BNP law secretary advocate Zainul Abedin has been claiming that the tenure of the present committee of BJAF formed with advocate TH Khan as president and Barrister Aminul Haque as secretary general in 1999 was expired much earlier and the present committee is illegal.
Barrister Nazmul Huda led faction has dissolved the committee on August 3 this year.
As a counter measure, advocate TH Khan led faction, on the same day, expelled Barrister Nazmul Huda and adcvocate Zainul Abedin from BJAF on charge of violating the constitution of the forum.
The faction of Huda and Zainul had called an Eid reunion at the same venue Friday and prepared invitation cards on the occasion but shifted their programme on December 1.
Without uttering the names of Barrister Nazmul Huda and advocate Zainul Abedin, Advocate TH Khan Friday said two lawyers who have been expelled from Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum for violating the constitution of the forum are misleading the nationalist lawyers.
"They are using the name of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum. Under the banner of BJAF, they had organised a function in the name of Eid reunion Friday at this venue with an evil intention. They should have shame in doing such activities. The lawyers should be aware of them," he said.
Advocate Khondker Mahbubuddin Ahmed, MP, said conspiracies are being hatched inside and outside of the country.
"If we cannot properly support the government in such situation, the country will fall in a severe crisis. The lawyers will have to remain united to protect the judiciary as well as the country," he said.
He urged the lawyers to forget the names of Barrister Nazmul Huda and advocate Zainul Abedin as they have been expelled from BJAF.
The meeting congratulated Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia for being elected SAARC Chairperson for second time.
The resolution of the meeting thanked the heads of the SAARC counties for giving SAARC gold medal to former president Ziaur Rahman.
It also condemned the killing senior assistant judges Sohel Ahmed and Jagannath Pandey, and court boycott programme of the pro-opposition lawyers.
Post and Telecommunications Minister Barrister Aminul Haque, Barrister Ziaur Rahaman Khan, MP, advocate Khaleda Panna, MP, advocate AK Mujibur Rahman, advocate Nitai Roy Chowdhury, advocate Sanaullah Miah, advocate Shah Khasruzzaman, advocate Saidur Rahman, advocate Golam Arshed, advocate Masud Ahmed Talukder, advocate Fazlur Rahman, advocate Badrul Islam Chunnu, advocate Matiur Rahman, among others, addressed the meeting.
