Bogra, Dec 9 (bdnews24.com) – A Bogra court Sunday ordered former BNP lawmaker Nur Afroz Begum to jail in an embezzlement case.
Principal of Shibganj MH Degree College Nur Afroz, nicknamed 'Jyoti', requested bail after surrendering to the court. But judge Md Saifuzzaman rejected the bail petition, ordering her straight to jail.
Sarwar Jahan, a lecturer of the college, filed the case against Jyoti with the cognizance court on Aug 5.
According to case details the accused allegedly embezzled Tk 1 lakh from college funds.
Jyoti's lawyer Lutfor Rahman said they would appeal for bail at the higher court.
