NCP renews plea for ‘Shapla’ electoral symbol

The party has reapplied to the EC a day after being asked to choose from the approved list of symbols

The National Citizen Party (NCP), which is under the registration process, has again applied to the Election Commission (EC) for the “Shapla” or water lily electoral symbol.

On Tuesday, the commission had informed the party that the symbol was not on the official list, and that NCP would have to choose an alternative.

The next day, the party submitted a fresh application seeking the allocation of “Shapla”, “white Shapla” or “red Shapla”, as before.

The application, signed by NCP Convenor Nahid Islam, was sent to the EC secretary on Wednesday. The party later said it was also emailed to the commission.
