Network for People’s Action (NPA) has made its debut in Dhaka, promising to engage youth and professionals in politics.

On Friday afternoon, former Dhaka University student Mir Hojaifa Al Mamduh formally announced the platform at the Central Shaheed Minar.

He also revealed that NPA will have a 101-member central council, disclosing the names of 99 members.

The remaining names will be announced later based on consultations, he said.

The platform has drafted its political framework based on five core principles and seven specific objectives.

At the announcement from the Shaheed Minar, the organisers said protecting the rights of ordinary people and upholding the spirit of the July revolution will be their primary focus.

They also pledged to engage young people and professionals to create a transparent political stream.

The manifesto of NPA was read out by Ferdous Ara Rumi, Tuhin Khan, and Najifa Jannat.

“NPA’s activities will be conducted on the basis of five principles,” Najifa said. “Democracy, equality, human dignity, social justice, and protection of life, nature and environment will be our guiding values.”

The new platform includes former National Citizen Party (NCP) members Anik Ray, Alik Mri, Tuhin Khan, Dhaka University branch of the Student Union (partial) President Meghmallar Bosu, former coordinator of the Students Against Discrimination Najifa Jannat, rights activist Ferdous Ara Rumi and Taslima Miji, among others.
