BNP's 48th founding anniversary has brought Chairman Tarique Rahman to Zia Udyan and Crescent Lake for tree planting and fish release events.
The BNP chief took part in the programme on Tuesday, shortly after paying tribute at the graves of late president Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister and party chairperson Khaleda Zia.
He first planted the tree at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar's Zia Udyan around 9:15am, then moved to Crescent Lake to release fish.
National Standing Committee members, Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Joint Secretary General Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anne and Publicity Secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku were among the leaders present.
The event began at dawn with the hoisting of the national and party flags at the central office in Naya Paltan and the chairman's office in Gulshan.
The BNP has announced a five-day central programme, including tree plantation, fish release and discussion sessions.
At 11:30am, Rizvi inaugurated a free medical camp on the ground floor of the Naya Paltan office, organised by the Doctors' Association of Bangladesh (DAB).
DAB President Harun Al Rashid and Secretary General Zahirul Islam Shakil were present.
The BNP was formed on Sept 1, 1978, with Zia as its first chairman.
