Kazi Golam Murshed Latiful Bari, a former CSP official and government secretary, has died at the age of 92.

He died on Tuesday at Dhaka’s Square Hospital, according to a media statement sent by East West University.

Born on Aug 7, 1933, Bari's death marks the end of a long and exemplary life dedicated to public service, the statement says.

Throughout his career, he was recognised as a respected Eisenhower Fellow, a testament to his leadership qualities and global exposure, it added.

His notable contributions included the critical role of editing the Bangladesh district gazetteers for Jashore and Bogura in 1979, which provided valuable documentation of the nation’s history and geography.

Beyond his professional achievements, Bari was known for his personal passion for travelling, reflecting his inquiring mind and broad worldview.

Prof Mohammed Farashuddin, chairperson of the university’s Board of Trustees and a former CSP official, expressed his deep condolences upon the passing of Bari, noting the nation has lost a dedicated public servant and an individual of high moral character.
