Potters in Sirajdikhan’s Palpara in Munshiganj are working flat out ahead of Puja and rural fairs. Keeping their ancestral craft alive, they delicately shape and paint traditional Lakshmi sara, decorative clay pots and toys. The clay discs are first left to dry in the sun, then skilled hands bring them to life with red, yellow and black brushstrokes, depicting deities and intricate motifs drawn from Bengal’s rich folk heritage.
