Married Hindu women gathered at Dhakeshwari National Temple in Dhaka for Sindoor Khela, a traditional vermilion-smearing ritual marking Bijoya Dashami and the farewell to Goddess Durga ahead of the immersion of her idol. Amid the beat of drums, the sound of conch shells and ululation, devotees offer vermilion to the goddess before applying it to one another's foreheads and faces. Children also join the celebrations.
