About 38,000 houses have been destroyed and 500,000 people affected by the rampage of Cyclone Hamoon through Cox’s Bazaar.
In Khurushkul, strong winds knocked out power lines, houses and trees when the cyclone made landfall. Days after the storm, locals are now conducting repairs in hopes of returning to their normal lives.
A woman whose roof was blown away by the storm told Hello that she had not seen such a strong cyclone in a long time.
Enamur Rahman, state minister for Disaster Management and Relief, has said the cyclone caused more damage than they had anticipated.
The storm has also caused significant damage to Cox’s Bazaar’s landscape.
“The government will do whatever is necessary to rehabilitate these people,” he added.
