Five more people with symptoms of measles have died in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, while health authorities recorded 63 new cases of the highly contagious disease.
The Directorate General of Health Services said in its regular bulletin on Saturday that 92 people had died from confirmed infections since Mar 15.
The health directorate said another 556 people died with symptoms of the highly infectious disease.
Among those with suspected measles, the highest number of deaths -- 235 -- occurred in Dhaka Division, followed by 87 deaths in Rajshahi Division since mid-March.
Over the past 24 hours until 8am, 733 people with measles symptoms sought treatment at hospitals. Of them, 672 were admitted.
Dhaka Division recorded the highest number of new admissions with 272 patients, followed by seven in Rangpur Division.
With these latest figures, the total number of suspected measles cases in the country has reached 84,899, as the total number of confirmed measles cases stands at 10,248.
