Nestlé Bangladesh has hosted “The Gut Nexus”, a two-day workshop dedicated to the science of the gut microbiome, underscoring its commitment to advancing and sharing evidence-based nutrition with scientific experts and research professionals.

The event combined expert lectures with interactive learning, offering a platform for more than 250 specialists from multiple disciplines to examine the latest findings in gut health, a statement said on Tuesday.

International speakers Prof Shaman Rajendrajith of Sri Lanka and Prof Dr Mark A Beninga of the Netherlands delivered detailed sessions on the role of gut health and the prevalence of functional gastrointestinal disorders.

Bringing a local perspective, Prof Dr Md Iqbal Hossain of icddr,b highlighted the importance of gut-friendly foods in the Bangladeshi diet, according to the statement.

Participants also engaged with scientific booths featuring innovations in probiotics and symbiotics, reflecting Nestlé’s focus on driving nutrition research and practical applications, it added.
