Bangladesh has recorded another death linked to measles-like symptoms over the past 24 hours.
Since Mar 15, a total of 780 people have died from confirmed measles or symptoms associated with the viral disease, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In its daily bulletin, the health directorate said 140 more people were confirmed to have measles during the 24 hours to 8am on Friday.
The latest figures show 95 people have died from laboratory-confirmed measles, while another 685 died after developing symptoms of the disease.
Dhaka Division recorded the highest number of deaths from measles-like symptoms at 298, followed by Sylhet with 94.
Rajshahi has reported 89 deaths, Chattogram 55, Mymensingh 66, Barishal 43, Khulna 31 and Rangpur nine.
The DGHS said 873 more people with measles-like symptoms visited hospitals nationwide over the past day, including 781 who were admitted.
Dhaka Division recorded the highest number of new admissions with 269, followed by Chattogram with 210. Barishal admitted 110 patients, Sylhet 66, Mymensingh 43, Khulna 38, Rajshahi 31 and Rangpur 14.
The cumulative number of suspected measles patients admitted to hospitals has reached 98,600, of whom 95,031 have been discharged.
Bangladesh has so far recorded 116,011 suspected measles cases and 14,244 confirmed infections.
