Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain has announced plans to install central emergency alarm systems in major public hospitals in Dhaka for the safety of doctors and health workers.

An initiative has been taken to launch a “Code Blue” emergency alarm system to ensure quick security assistance in case of emergencies, he said at handover ceremony for ventilators and other medical equipment received as donations at the Central Medical Store (CMSD) in Tejgaon on Tuesday.

There are also plans to set up a separate police camp in the Mohakhali area to increase the security of health-related establishments, Sakhawat added.

He said that in the first phase, this system will be launched at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.

He also said that one paediatric ventilator has been provided for each of 10 ICU units in 10 district Sadar hospitals across the country. These units will be inaugurated within a week after the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
