Beatmosphere has been selected to represent Bangladesh at the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia, after winning the country’s national selection with their performance of “Tumi Ele”.

Eurovision reported that 10 performers competed in the first National Selection Show for Bangladesh on Wednesday, with the winner decided through a combination of jury, public and international votes.

A professional jury accounted for 40 percent of the result, while the Bangladeshi audience contributed another 40 percent. The remaining 20 percent came from a Rest of the World vote.

Beatmosphere emerged at the top of the final standings, followed by Pulak Adhikary in second place and Vintage Theory in third.

The group will perform in Bangkok on Nov 14, Eurovision said.

Beatmosphere was formed in 2009 and is known for combining a cappella singing and beatboxing without conventional instruments or electronic equipment.

According to Eurovision, the group uses layered vocals, body percussion, vocal effects and theatrical performance to create sounds ranging from drums and basslines to melodies and electronic textures.

The group normally performs with nine members but will appear as a six-member ensemble for the national selection.

Ishtiyak Zobayer and Sayed Ahnaf Tahmid will perform lead vocals and harmony, alongside Sidratul Mursalin Bhasha and Mahi Bin Ashraful on harmony.

Moktadir Dewan will provide harmony, vocal bass and baritone, while Mahi Hossain Khan will perform beatbox and vocal percussion.

Eurovision added that the national selection is available to watch on its YouTube channel, where the selection shows for Eurovision Asia are being streamed.
