A Bhajan Clubbing event marking Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya's 110th birth anniversary in Delhi turned into a full-blown vibe session when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi showed up and joined in, blending devotion with a distinctly Gen Z soundtrack.
Modi attended the event on Thursday, where singer Sadhu Tiwari, known for his work on the film Hanuman Ansh, performed the movie's popular devotional track "Parvati", according to NDTV.
As the bhajan played, the Indian news outlet reported that the prime minister was seen swaying along to the song alongside the young crowd.
A video shared on Instagram showed Modi fully immersed in the moment, clapping along and playing a khanjari during the soulful performances.
Modi later posted his own clip from the evening. "Bhajan Clubbing in Delhi. Spectacular!" he wrote.
Hanuman Ansh actor Shobhinaw Satya, who was also at the event, told NDTV he regretted not getting the chance to meet the prime minister in person, but could not hide his admiration for what he witnessed.
"The steps he took, the way he came here and sat on a chair, playing some instruments in his hands, the way he was doing it, it felt as if he had become a child among children," Satya said. "I think only a true saint can do it. For me, he is like a true saint."
Bhajan Clubbing, the rising movement is a prominent Gen Z trend across India that reimagines traditional devotional music.
