The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations under the Chattogram education board have been suspended indefinitely across all districts in Chattogram Division due to the aftermath of flooding.

The decision was announced late on Thursday by the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee.

According to the committee, the suspension was prompted by the post-flood situation, the psychological condition of students and damage to roads and transport infrastructure caused by the floods.

The suspension applies to HSC and equivalent examinations conducted under the Chattogram Education Board, as well as Alim examinations in five districts of the division and HSC Vocational, BMT and Diploma in Commerce examinations.

The committee said examinations under all other education boards and in other parts of the country will continue as scheduled.

The announcement was made in a notification issued after 11:30pm on Thursday.

The notification was signed by Prof Syed Akhteruzzaman, chairman of the Dhaka education board and president of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee.

Dhaka Education Board Secretary Prof SM Kamal Uddin Haider confirmed the decision to bdnews24.com at 11:40pm.
