Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon has said the government will continue improving the quality of education without tolerating wrongdoing, dismissing criticism and online “trolling” as attempts to distract it from its responsibilities.

"We have been entrusted with the responsibility of educating the nation. There is no point in trolling or making false allegations. We will not be diverted from our responsibilities. The present government will continue improving the quality of education without giving shelter to any wrongdoing," he said.

The minister made the remarks on Saturday while inaugurating the academic activities of Naogaon University at the Naogaon Sadar Upazila Auditorium.

Earlier, Milon unveiled the university's nameplate at its temporary campus in the town’s Barunkandi.

Referring to the country's higher education ambitions, the minister said Bangladeshi students were highly talented and that universities were being developed with the aim of attracting international students.

Milon also criticised those who, he said, sought to provoke society through disruptive rhetoric instead of constructive discussion about education.

He expressed confidence that the country's younger generation would reject such attempts.
