Inflation has fallen to 8.26 percent in August, marking a second straight monthly decline and its lowest level in 10 months.

Point-to-point inflation stood at 8.32 percent in July, the first month of the current fiscal year. It was 8.17 percent in October 2025 before rising again.

The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) released the latest figures on Monday.

Food inflation dropped to 7.02 percent in August from 8.16 percent in July, while non-food inflation edged up to 9.32 percent from 9.28 percent.

On a point-to-point basis, August’s inflation rate of 8.26 percent means a product or service that cost Tk 100 in August last year now costs Tk 108.26.
