PCB drop Inzamam as batting consultant

Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has been dropped as the team's batting consultant for the South African tour after resistance from team's head coach Dav Whatmore, reports Cricketnext.

The Express on Sunday reported that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) dropped its idea of sending Inzamam as batting consultant because of resistance from Whatmore.

Although the board wanted to finalise things with Inzamam but Whatmore told the Chairman Zaka Ashraf that he could take care of the batting issues and that former players should only be allowed to work with the team in training camps and not on tours, the report claimed.

Inzamam did not accompany the national side left to play three Tests and five one-day internationals.

Inzamam was appointed as batting consultant by the Pakistani board last month and was expected to be part of team's South Africa tour.

When contacted, Inzamam declined to comment on the change in stance by the board.
