Pacer Taskin Ahmed and spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz have made inroads into the Pakistan innings, picking up regular wickets to wrongfoot the visitors.

The duo picked up a couple of scalps apiece ahead of lunch on Sunday to put Bangladesh in the driver’s seat on Day 2 of the 2nd Test in Sylhet.

Taskin (2-30) struck early in the day, luring Abdullah Fazal (9) into edging the ball to the wicketkeeper in the seventh over of the innings. With the last ball of his next over, Taskin also took out Azan Awais (13), who got a thin inside edge into the waiting hands of Mominul Haque at short leg.

The two batsmen had offered some of the most steadfast resistance to the Tigers’ bowling attack in the 1st Test in Mirpur, and their early dismissals spurred Bangladesh on.

Miraz (2-14) got in on the action in the 17th over as captain Shan Masood (21) bludgeoned a delivery into the covers to set up an easy catch for substitute Nayeem Hasan. He also picked up another big wicket in the 25th over as Saud Shakeel’s sweep top-edged it to Litton.

At lunch, Pakistan were at 96/4, trailing the Tigers by 182 runs.

At the crease were Babar Azam (37) and Salman Agha (6).
