Mushfiqur Rahim has decided to call time on his ODI career following Bangladesh’s disappointing campaign in the Champions Trophy.

The 37-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman made the announcement on social media on Wednesday night.

In September 2022, he bowed out of T20I cricket. The latest decision marks the end of an era for Bangladesh cricket.

Mushfiqur’s 50-over career was studded with moments of glory, remarkable achievements, and success, while it also carried its share of failures and disappointments.

Mushfiqur had a torrid time in this year’s Champions Trophy, getting dismissed on the first ball against India in Bangladesh’s opening match.

He followed that with just 2 runs against New Zealand, an innings that sparked widespread criticism due to the manner of his dismissal.

With two consecutive defeats, Bangladesh crashed out of the tournament early, and fingers were pointed at Mushfiqur, one of the team’s most experienced batsmen, for his underwhelming performance.
