Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed has been accused of assault and issuing threats against a childhood friend.
According to a general diary filed with Mirpur Model Police Station, the incident took place on Sunday night in front of Sony Cinema Hall in Mirpur, Dhaka.
Police station chief Sajjad Hossain said a young man named Sifatur Rahman Sourav had filed the complaint.
“We’ve received a complaint stating Taskin physically assaulted someone near Sony Cinema Hall. We are currently investigating the matter,” the officer said.
Efforts to reach Taskin for comment were unsuccessful.
According to Sourav’s complaint, Taskin called him over by phone and then beat him, causing injuries, and threatened him.
Taskin is currently out of action following the T20 series against Pakistan. The 30-year-old speedster last donned the national colours for the Tigers on Jul 24.
