Daffodil International University (DIU) has achieved a leading national position in the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026, securing a place among the top institutions in Asia and globally.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the university said it achieved 112th place in Asia and 484th worldwide out of 2,002 institutions reviewed in this year’s assessment.

It obtained an overall score of 69.5 out of 100.

The ranking evaluates universities on environmental impact, social impact, and governance.

DIU’s consistent progress in these indicators is showing that the university is not only committed to modern academic excellence, but also deeply devoted to environmental responsibility, social impact, ethical governance, and building a sustainable future aligned with global standards, the statement said.

According to the university, its extensive work in research, renewable energy, carbon-footprint reduction, digital transformation, women’s leadership, and industry academia collaboration is playing a vital role in achieving this prestigious recognition.

Citing Chairman of the Board of Trustees Md Sabur Khan, the statement said he congratulated the DIU community on the milestone.

He said, “Sustainable development is what will lead the world in the future. From the very beginning, we are shaping every aspect of our education, research, innovation, and administrative policies in alignment with sustainability.

“Being ranked the best in Bangladesh and achieving such an impressive global position in the QS Sustainability Rankings is reflecting our long-term vision. This success is coming from collective effort and shared belief.”

“We want our students not just to earn a degree, but to prepare themselves as responsible global citizens. This recognition is inspiring us even further on that path,” he added.

Vice-Chancellor Prof MR Kabir said, “Becoming the top-ranked university in Bangladesh in the QS Sustainability Rankings is serving as strong evidence of DIU’s commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, digital transformation, and environment-friendly policies.

“This is not just a ranking it is standing as an international acknowledgment of our promise to build a sustainable planet for future generations.”

DIU expressed gratitude to its faculty, students, alumni, researchers, visiting professors, administrative staff, and institutional partners, noting that their dedication has helped position the university as a leading institution at home and a recognised name abroad.

The statement noted that the recognition will encourage the university to reinforce its commitments to sustainable development, research quality, community engagement, technological innovation, and global partnerships, as it works to advance the internationalisation of Bangladesh’s higher education and uphold the values of the Sustainable Development Goals.
