Uttara University has concluded VC Sports Week 2026, the largest inter-departmental sports competition in the university's history, with a prize-giving ceremony and cultural evening on Aug 3.
Some 540 student-athletes from different academic departments competed across six sports -- cricket, football, badminton, chess, carrom and table tennis -- over the week-long tournament, which began on Jul 27.
The event was organised by the Uttara University Sports Club under the Office of Student Affairs.
The competition was dedicated to Vice-Chancellor Prof Eaysmin Ara Lekha in recognition of her support for student leadership and physical well-being.
She presided over the closing ceremony alongside members of the Board of Trustees and university officials, and presented trophies, medals and certificates to champions, runners-up and top individual performers.
"Sports is not just about winning or losing on the field; it teaches discipline, leadership, resilience and mutual respect," Prof Lekha said.
"The spirit with which every student participated and competed with honesty in this event is our biggest success."
The closing evening featured musical performances by Uttara University students, followed by live concerts from youth bands Encore and Eden's Garden.
Uttara University said it remains committed to hosting co-curricular and sports initiatives to support student development beyond the classroom.
