Amid the ongoing gas crisis, the government is buying 14 more cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) without tender as imported gas supplies and stocks decline.

The purchases are being made through direct procurement to “maintain normal gas supply in the country for urgent state needs and public interest”.

In a meeting led by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the proposals on Wednesday.
