Air India will restore daily flights on the Delhi-Dhaka route from Jul 29, as India resumes issuing all categories of visas to Bangladeshi nationals and lower global jet fuel prices improve operating conditions.
Under the revised schedule, the airline will operate daily return flights between the two capitals.
Flights will depart Delhi at 11:10am and leave Dhaka for the return journey at 3:10pm.
The carrier had reduced services on the route to four flights a week from mid-May.
On May 13, Air India announced a temporary rationalisation of several international routes for June through August, citing airspace restrictions caused by the conflict in West Asia and record-high jet fuel prices.
As part of the changes, Delhi-Dhaka flights were cut from seven a week to four, while the Mumbai-Dhaka route was suspended through August.
According to Air India's website, the Delhi-Dhaka service operated only on Sundays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays during June and July.
India's regular visa operations in Bangladesh were disrupted after the July-August 2024 student-led mass uprising.
Although Air India largely maintained flights during that period, the later escalation of the conflict in West Asia forced it to trim services.
Since the BNP government took office in February, Dhaka and New Delhi have moved to normalise ties.
India resumed issuing all categories of visas to Bangladeshi citizens on Jun 28.
During the suspension of regular visa services, India issued around 1,500 visas, mainly for medical treatment and entry purposes.
With tourist and other visa categories restored, passenger demand has also risen.
Air India has yet to announce when the Mumbai-Dhaka route will resume.
