Dhaka South City Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon announced the rate after a meeting with meat sellers on Monday.
The beef price increased by Tk 75 per kg this year from Tk 450 per kg last year.
However, the beef price was being sold at Tk 550 per kg in the city’s kitchen markets ahead of Ramadan that will begin on Tuesday.
The price of Indian beef was set at Tk 500, buffalo meat at Tk 480, mutton at Tk 750 and goat meat at Tk 650 per kg, according to the mayor.
The mayor urged all traders to follow the prices set in the meeting. “A monitoring team will be working round the clock. Legal action will be taken if anyone is found to be in violation of the agreement.”
