He previously held several positions at the IMF, including IMF representative to Cambodia from 2011-2015, and senior economist in the Asia and Pacific, Monetary and Capital Markets departments, Bangladesh Bank said in a statement on Tuesday.
Ahmed has also been a visiting scholar at the US Federal Reserve Bank, an economist at the Central Bank of Turkey and worked as an actuary for four years at a global reinsurance company.
He has also taught at the Royal School of Administration in Cambodia, the South East Asian Central Banks Research and Training Centre and the University of Minnesota, where he received his MA and PhD.
Ahmed also holds a master’s degree in finance from Princeton University and is a chartered financial analyst.
