HC orders probe into Narayanganj incident

The probe body headed by Md Shahjahan Ali Mollah, additional secretary at the Public Administration Ministry, began hearing them from 10:30am Saturday.

Ward-2 Councillor Nazrul Islam was abducted along with four of his aides on Apr 27 from near the city’s court premises. Senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker and his driver also went missing from the same location, around the same time.

Three days later, six decomposing bodies were found floating on Sitalakhyya River at Bandar Upazila.

Another was found the next day. They were found to be those who had been abducted.

Councillor Nazrul’s wife Selina Islam and his father-in-law Shahidul Islam, were present at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Saturday along with Chandan Sarker’s daughter Sejuti Sarker to depose before the probe body.

Earlier on Thursday, the committee visited the place from where the abductions had taken place the spot near the Shitalakhyya River where their bodies were found.
