Dhaka, Mar 1 (bdnews24.com) – Police have arrested the prime suspect of schoolgirl Tumpa's murder.
The abducted daughter of an MP has also been rescued from the suspect identified as Asaduzzaman Hridoy, 24.
Shahbagh police chief Rezaul Karim told bdnews24.com that they arrested Hridoy from one of his relative's house at Hujurpara of Kamrangirchar, Dhaka in the early hours of Tuesday.
The abducted girl was rescued from the same house.
"Police detectives have also arrested Hridoy's father Zakir Hossain and mother Beauty Begum from one of his friends' house," the police officer added.
Ruling Awami League MP Afjal Hossain on Feb 19 night filed a case against four persons, including Hridoy, as the main suspect, for abducting his daughter from in the front of his house (Hasinur Green Cottage) at Segunbagicha.
Another resident of the building, Ayesha Chowdhury Tumpa, 16, had gone missing after she left her house on Feb 14.
A 10th grade student of Begum Rahima Adarsha High School, Tumpa's body was found floating, two days after she had gone missing, in a canal of the Dhaka-Narayanganj-Demra (DND) dam on Feb 16.
Hridoy is being interrogated at the office of Metropolitan Detective Police.
OC Karim said that Hridoy was also being questioned about Tumpa's murder.
Two others accused in the murder case — Saidur Rahman and Nurul Haque — have already been arrested.
The investigation officer of the abduction case, Moktar Hossain, earlier told bdnews24.com that the murderers and the abductors might be linked.
"The car used to abduct Tumpa before killing her might also have been used to abduct the MP's daughter. We have some information in this regard," he added.
