Shibir men attacked Zafar, 36, the liftman of Agrani Bank head office in Motijheel, during Wednesday’s violence. He died in the Green Life Hospital.
The attackers had hit Zafar on the head with rods when he had urged them not to pull down posters demanding gallows for Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Abdul Quader Molla, said police.
The posters were put up by the Agrani Bank Officials and Employees Association, said an employee of the bank preferring anonymity. “Shibir men first beat up Zafar and hit him on the head before fleeing.”
The incident had taken place around 9:00am Wednesday.
