Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) told bdnews24.com that Lt Col Tarek Sayeed Mahmud, Major Arif Hossain and naval officer Lt Commander MM Rana have been sent on forced retirement.

Lt Col Tarek is son-in-law to senior Awami League leader and Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya.

"Their parent service army, has confirmed early retirements for Tarek and Arif, but we are yet to receive a circular on that," the ISPR's Assistant Director (Army) Rezaul Karim told bdnews24.com.

Meanwhile, Naval officer MM Rana was forced to go on retirement, confirmed ISPR Assistant Director (Navy) Taposhi Rabeya Lopa, but said an official intimation was awaited.

Seven persons, including Naraynganj City Corporation Councillor Nazrul Islam, senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar, were abducted from the city on Apr 27.

Three days later, their bodies were found floating on the Shitalakhya river.

The Commanding Officer of RAB 11 in Narayanganj, Tarek Sayeed Mahmud was withdrawn and sent back to army after the incident.

The slain councillor's father-in-law alleged that RAB had taken Tk 60 million from the prime accused Nur Hossain to carry out the abductions and killings.

The RAB has already formed a probe panel to look into the allegation.
