Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to address the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Tarique will speak at 5pm local time on Thursday, which is 3am on Friday in Bangladesh, his Advisor Mahdi Amin told a media briefing.
Amin said the premier will deliver his speech in Bangla, channelling national sentiments and aspirations while following the historical precedent set by his father, former president Ziaur Rahman, and his mother, former prime minister Khaleda Zia.
The advisor urged journalists to share the statesmanlike message and key points presented by the prime minister to the global community with the nation.
This is Tarique's first visit to New York since the BNP swept to power with a landslide victory in the general election and he took office as prime minister on Feb 17.
He arrived in New York on Sept 21, having previously completed official visits to Malaysia and China.
