Dhaka, Jan 18 (bdnews24.com)–Parliament on Monday passed Post Office Amendment Act-2009 in a bid to raise the standards of the postalservice.
The bill for amending Post Office Act-1898 was passed in the chair of deputy speaker Shawkat Ali after post minister Raziuddin Razu tabled the bill.
"The previous government did not take any steps to develop postal department. The present government has taken measures to amend the act to update it and raise the quality of the postal department."
The bill was sent to the standing committee on post and telecommunications ministry for scrutiny on Nov 4.
