Dhaka, Mar 4 (bdnews24.com)--The government named a new information secretary Wednesday, more than a week after sacking A T M Fazlul Karim amid charges he allegedly defamed Bangladesh's independence leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Samar Chandra Paul, now National Museum director general, will be acting secretary at the information ministry, an announcement said.
Two other ministries got acting secretaries.
Rural Electrification Board chairman Dr Nasiruddin Ahmed will take over at public works and housing.
Shafiul Alam, now additional secretary at roads and railways division, will go the Bangabhaban as acting secretary to the president.
Additional secretaries transferred
A K M Abdul Awal Majumder, now additional food secretary, will go to agriculture; Ahmed Hossain Khan, now OSD at establishment, will be additional food secretary.
Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, additional secretary at local government, will be additional secretary at information ministry.
Ziaul Islam, additional secretary at information, will take over as chairman of National Identity Registration Authority.
