Rajoir Police Station Officer in-Charge Mofazzel Haque confirmed the arson that took place in the area adjacent to Haridasdi-Mahendradi Bazar.

He, however, preferred not to blame any body in a hurry for the sabotage. The roof of the temple was completely burned.

The temple was set on fire around 3:00am, its directing committee chief Uttam Kumar Banerjee told bdnews24.com. He also declined to comment on as to who could be behind the act.

Recently, minority communities in several areas of Bangladesh were attacked amidst nationwide mayhem by the Jamaat-e-Islami. They were on a rampage in reaction to the death verdict for their leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee.

Police could not say if this act in Rajoir was a continuation of the same mayhem.
