The nationwide strike, which has crippled the country, has entered the second day on Wednesday.
Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, State Minister Mashiur Rahman Ranga and Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association (BRTOA) Secretary General Khandker Enayet Ullah are attending the meeting at the BRTOA offices at Dhaka's Motijheel.
Khan is executive president of the apex workers' union Bangladesh Transport Workers' Federation while Ranga is the BRTOA president.
Earlier on Wednesday, Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader held a brief meeting at his office with Law Minister Anisul Huq, Minister Khan, State Minister Ranga and Enayet Ullah.
The strike is causing much suffering,” said Quader after the half-hour meeting. “This is why we have called the meeting. We will continue discussions. [The Road Transport Owners Association] has assured us that they will speak to the workers unions and come to a solution by today.”
“We will discuss with the union leaders at my office (in Motijheel) this afternoon and will try and reach a solution,” Khandker Enayet Ullah told bdnews24.com.
