Three more bodies found in Rangamati after landslides

Rescuers have found three more bodies, including of a soldier in Rangamati, which was hit the worst by the landslides, on Thursday.

They are continuing to look for bodies on the third day after the landslides.

Road communication between Rangamati and other parts of the country still remains cut off even as rescue operations continued across the hill district.

Rangamati Fire Service said that the bodies were found on Thursday at three different locations.

The deceased have identified as Aziz, an army soldier posted at the Manikchhari camp, Rupan Dutta, a resident of Vedvedi and Maszidpara resident Sultana, said Fire Service Deputy Director Didarul Alam.

Torrential rains since Sunday night, triggered by a low in the Bay of Bengal, have caused landslides in Bangladesh's five districts leaving as many as 150 people dead.

Until late Wednesday, 105 bodies have been retrieved from Rangamati.

The death toll from the landslide stands at 29 in Chittagong, six in Bandarban, two in Cox's Bazar and one in Khagrachhari, according to the disaster management ministry.

Adverse conditions left seven more dead in Chittagong. They drowned in floods, or were crushed under uprooted trees and collapsing walls, said ministry officials.
