Family to meet Kamaruzzaman Saturday after lawyers’ visit
Jamaat leader Kamaruzzaman worse than Nazis, says appeal verdict
After visiting the Jamaat assistant secretary general on Saturday morning, his lawyer Tazul Islam said, “A review petition has to be filed within 15 days from the publication of a full verdict. We’ll file the petition before the deadline ends.”
Along with Tazul, lawyers Shishir Monir, Ehsan-e-Siddique, Mashiul Alam and Matiur Rahman Akhand met the war criminal at the jail around 10am.
“One of the judges found him innocent. He (Kamaruzzaman) asked us to file the review petition based on the detail of the judge’s finding,” Tazul said.
Though the Jamaat leader’s son Hasan Iqbal said on Friday that his family members would meet him on Saturday, no one of the family was seen in the prison in the morning.
The ICT sentenced Kamaruzzaman to death on May 9, 2013.
The Supreme Court upheld the verdict.
Another Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Abdul Quader Molla was hanged on Dec 12, 2013 for his wartime atrocities.
