Dr Bijoy Kumar Paul, son-in-law of slain senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar, and two others filed the petition in the High Court on Sunday.

The petition seeks a judicial commission headed by a former chief justice or an incumbent justice of the Appellate Division to oversee the investigation into the recent Narayanganj abductions and murders.

The other petitioners are Narayanganj District Lawyers’ Association president Sakhawat Hossain Khan and executive president of ‘Amra Narayanganjbasi’, a local organization, Mahbubur Rahman.

Lawyer Kamal Hossain moved the bench of Justices Mirza Hussain Haider and Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar on their behalf.

On Apr 27, Narayanganj City Councillor Nazrul Islam and his four aides and lawyer Chandan Sarkar and his driver were abducted from the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.

Their bodies were retrieved from the Shitalakhyya river three days later.

A seven-member probe committee was formed by a High Court order after RAB was accused of being involved in the incident.

The committee began its work on Thursday.

RAB also formed a committee to investigate the incident.

All fingers point to RAB
