Bablu, 63, will tie the knot with university teacher Mehe Zebunnesa Rahman on Apr 21. The marriage was blessed by both families, Sunil Subho Roy, Ershad’s press secretary, told bdnews24.com on Wednesday.

Bablu, Jatiya Party’s former secretary general, did not respond to phone calls, but his future mother-in-law, Ershad’s sister and MP Merina Rahman, confirmed the wedding date to bdnews24.com.

The two will be married during a ceremony at Ershad’s Baridhara home, the Presidential Park, on the morning of Apr 21. The reception will take place at a Gulshan restaurant in the evening.

Merina Rahman is an MP (a reserved seat) from the opposition Jatiya Party. Bablu represents Chittagong-9 in parliament.

Bablu’s first wife Farida Sarkar died of cancer in 2005. She too was a teacher of a private university. Their son Ashik Ahmed is a businessman.

Mehe Zebunnesa Rahman, assistant professor and director of the BBA programme at the Southeast University, has a son and a daughter from her earlier marriage.
