Dhaka, Nov 9 (bdnews24.com)—Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has met Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Dipu Moni.
The meeting began around 11:15am Friday after Khar arrived in Dhaka in the morning on a five-hour trip.
Details of the meeting could not be known immediately.
On Thursday, Dipu Moni had said that Bangladesh would ask Pakistan to unconditionally apologise for the genocide of Bengalees its troops had carried out in 1971.
She told bdnews24.com that she will place the demand during her meeting with Khar. "We will discuss bilateral issues including all pending issues such as unconditional apology for the atrocities that Pakistani army had committed during the War of Liberation in 1971."
The special flight carrying her landed at 10:15am at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital. Foreign Secretary Mohamed Mijarul Quayes received her there.
Khar is on her way to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to hand over an invitation letter from Pakistani Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf for attending the eighth summit of D-8 countries in Islamabad from Nov 22.
She will attend a luncheon thrown by Dipu Moni at Hotel Ruposhi Bangla in the capital at noon.
Khar would also meet opposition leader and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at Khaleda's Gulshan residence before leaving Dhaka at 3pm.
This is the first time a Pakistani minister is visiting Dhaka during the tenure of the Awami League-ruled government.
