He submitted his resignation to Public Administration Ministry's Senior Secretary Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury on Thursday.

"I have resigned today," Miah told bdnews24.com.

He, however, cited 'health, family and personal reasons' for his resignation.

Asked whether the resignation was accepted, Miah said:"It does not matter if they do not accept it. It's effective since I submitted it."

Miah along with three other bureaucrats had recently replied to the showcause notice after it was found they had fraudulently obtained freedom-fighter certificates.

The other three are Public Service Commission Secretary AKM Amir Hossain, former Liberation War Affairs Secretary KH Masud Siddique, currently OSD (officer on special duty), and the same ministry's Joint Secretary Abul Kasem Talukder, also an OSD.

On Sept 14, the government decided to revoke certificates of five public servants, including former PMO Secretary Molla Waheeduzzaman, now chairman of the Privatisation Commission

However, on Sept 22, the Liberation War affairs ministry said Waheeduzzaman's certificate was 'withheld' and not cancelled. No show-cause notice was issued to Waheeduzzaman.

It then issued orders for cancelling freedom fighters' credentials of the four bureaucrats and wrote to the public administration ministry to take official measures against them.
